FISA Restrictions Will Not Work, Intelligence Agencies Will Do What They Want.
FISA renewal in any form will not restrict warrantless spying on Americans.
The fight over FISA Sec.702 continues as a warrant requirement is being thrown around along with other provisions that would limit the ease of surveillance tactics employed by our corrupt intelligence community. Let’s remember that the US intelligence community does not operate within constitutional parameters, and it never has. We must recognize that FISA was intended to monitor threats overseas, that was always a restriction that always existed. FISA was used to spy on the Trump campaign and push the Russia collusion hox that went on through most of President Trump’s time in the White House. Likewise, the CIA was always touted as an agency that operated outside of the US, while being prohibited from operations inside US borders. We all know that the CIA does not operate as it should, and it operates with no restrictions and no oversight. Anyone that tries to hold the IC accountable, seems to die under mysterious circumstances, or by suicide. Just like Senator Chuck Schumer said, the IC has “six ways from Sunday” to get back at those that challenge our Intelligence machine.
Knowing that our federal government does not follow the law and does not abide by the restrictions imposed by the US Constitution or the legislative limitations under legal statute, why do we think that it matters what FISA bill they choose to pass? If they renew FISA as is and make no changes, the warrantless spying of American citizens will continue. They can say that it will be used only overseas until they are blue in the face, but those that make this assertion, will be lying. Also, there is no mechanism that is being proposed to hold people accountable for violating the appropriate use of FISA and its reach. If they impose a bunch of restrictions on FISA, and require a warrant, they will still spy on Americans as they ignore the restrictions Imposed by updated legislation. Legislation and oversight that congress has a constitutional duty to carry out, is now irrelevant because we have unelected bureaucrats in the IC and other alphabet soup agencies that are shameless when it comes to ignoring federal statutes and making up their own rules. Conclusion: It doesn’t matter what FISA renewal they pass, the result will be the same. This whole debate is political theatre. The CIA and FBI will continue to do what they want.
